The Play was a Success!

It's been a little under a month since we put the Stage version of Firstborn up. It was really a life changing experience. I think one of the bigger things about directing long form work, is really the fortitude and follow through that it requires. I appreciate this project on so many levels. It made me grow, forgive, learn to love others more; and more importantly love myself more.

I also realized yesterday that I was a bit burnt out. Not with the project, but with everything that was going on in my personal life. It got to be a bit much; I need some time off before I get right back in the saddle with things. I do have some very specific goals that I'd like to do before the year is out, but I think I need to improve my time frame assessment :)

I'm thinking that I don't give myself realistic time frames to get things done, which is why there is this impending sense of never being enough time. I think my goals now are to relax, and know that there is enough time, space and resources to do what I desire to do. Ashé.

Changing with the Times...

Hey All,

It really has been quite some time since I've blogged. My mother said to me about a couple of months ago, like in September of last year, "Why don't you do Firstborn in the theater?" And like many other times, I shrugged it off until three days later it all made sense. FIRSTBORN SHOULD BE ON THE STAGE.

Am I one of those people who are given an idea then they act like they came up with it? Kinda...but I do give credit where credit is due...and that's all anyone can ask for. lol.

So, you can get more frequent updates about the stage show at my other blog "CURTAIN COUNTDOWN: ADVENTURES IN DIRECTING" @ http://www.firstbornlive.blogspot.com

See you there,

Ms. T

Back from L.A. (again)

I had went to LA again to see our composer, Kahil El'Zabar perform with the Ritual Trio featuring Ari Brown at the Jazz Bakery. Ohhh! It was so inspiring, I have been vibin' on it ever since. The thing is that the soundtrack/score is so important to this film b/c the family is headed by musicians and that music is their lives. Our new producer, Alexandra Overton was able to join me at the concert...and we had a ball. here's us at her apartment:

I think Alex reminds me of my sister, I showed my mom the picture she said Alex looks like kin...

At the Hollywood Black Film Festival

I've been very blessed to attend the HBFF this year. We spent a good deal of time taking in the festival and connecting with many different filmmakers. I am glad to say that there are a lot of folks who are out doin' their thang...and a lot of creativity! I got a chance to pitch the project, it went very well! One exec said that he will never forget the pitch...We have been able to connect with some exec's interested in FB, I'll keep you all posted as things solidify. Keep sendin' up your love!
